Terms and Conditions - Accademia di Italiano Milan 

The conditions below set out the terms of contract between you, the student and Accademia di Italiano Milano.

TOTAL FEES FOR YOUR COURSE
The total course fees are made up of the following: (course registration fee EUR 70.00 valid 1 year), course fee, accommodation fee (if applicable), airport transfer fee (if applicable), entry level and in-between course tests, school's own learning material, certificate, use of Internet in the premises. They do not include bank charges, credit card and PayPal commissions and text books. All course fees are payable as follows:
Pay the registration fee plus:

  • deposit of 25% of the global tuition fee (according to the total number of weeks)
  • full tuition fee (for the total number of weeks enrolment, eventual first 4 weeks accommodation fee and airport pick-up) if a Study Visa is required as requested by the Italian law. Documentation in support of study visa applications will only be provided upon receipt of full payment.
  • full tuition fee (for the total number of weeks, enrolment, eventual accommodation and airport pick-up) if it is a last-minute booking less than two weeks before the course starts.
ENROLMENT
You can ENROL ONLINE or download the application form: in both cases be sure to enter the course type, the accomodation choice, the transfer service if required.

  • Enter the details of the course you wish to follow
  • Enter the start date for the course and enter how long you want to study
  • Enter the type of accommodation you wish AI to arrange (if needed)
  • Enter whether you want AI to arrange to welcome you at the airport on arrival and transfer you to your accommodation
  • Choose your preferred method of payment
  • Enter your personal details
METHOD OF PAYMENT:
a) online: Credit Card/Debit Card (Secure Server insures that your credit card and all your data are encrypted. Transaction is secure). Commissions are at student's charge
b) by bank transfer (proof of payment to be faxed/mailed to the school)

In case of bank transfers please email or fax us +39 (02) 87388891 the receipt of payment stating for whom the payment is being made indicating the student's name, the type of course and the starting date of the course. Bank charges are at the student's charge.

The school aims to process your booking in 2 working days. On receipt of your enrolment Accademia di Italiano will send you:
a) a letter confirming the type of course chosen and the start date, accommodation and any other service if required
b) details of the accommodation booked will be sent to you separately within 15 days the course starting. Please confirm your approximate time of arrival.

COURSE CANCELLATION
Before the student arrives at AI Milan all course fees are payable in advance. Eventual cancellations must be communicated in writing to the school and give no right to the return of the 25% tuition fee deposit and of the registration fee. Tuition fee balances already paid will be returned as follows:

  • if a course is cancelled in writing within 15 days notice before the course starts, a cancellation charge equivalent to the deposit (25% of tuition fee plus registration fee) will be made. The school will refund the balance of tuition fees.
  • if a course is cancelled in writing less than 15 days notice before the course starts, a cancellation charge equivalent to the deposit (25% of tuition fee plus registration fee) plus one week tuition will be made. The school will return the balance.
  • after the course has started no refund is applicable.
If a cancellation is made after the course has started the school will retain the entire tuition fee, even if the period of study is more than one month.
The school reserves the right to cancel any group course or to offer a reduced timetable if the minimum number of 4 students is not reached.

Individual lessons must be cancelled with at least 24 hours notice (working days) and 48 hours notice in case of week-ends (Saturdays and Sundays). 20% max of course can be cancelled.

COURSE CHANGE/LATE ARRIVAL
If the request to change type of course is made at least 15 days before the course starts, students will be given a credit for the tuition fees for the new course or period chosen and they will pay € 150.00 administrative charge for the requested change. It is not possible to make changes after the course has started. On no account can the tuition fee paid be transferred to individual classes.
Courses starts only on fixed dates. There can be no refund for students who start their booked course at a later date or leave before the end of a session, or miss lessons.

STUDY VISA - Italian regulations
All non-EU citizens must study for a minimum 4 hours per day (20 hours per week) to comply with Italian immigration regulations to get a study visa. According to the Italian law the global tuition fee must be pre-paid in full for the entire period of study, therefore the school documents in support of a study visa application will only be provided upon receipt of full fees.
For security reasons the original certificate of enrolment will be sent by express courier (DHL or equivalent): this cost is to be paid by the student before the course starts.
Cancellation due to rejection of visa application
Students who do not get the visa to enter Italy must notify the school in writing showing proof of rejection from the Italian Embassy and the school will apply the following conditions:
a) within 7 days before the course starting date, the student will be charged € 300.00 administrative costs plus the enrolment fee plus any expenses paid on his/her behalf (like DHL, health insurance, etc.). The balance is refunded when all the original school documents, including the certificate of enrolnment and the official Embassy note giving the reasons for rejecting the visa, are returned to the School. It is, however, possible to start the course at a later date.
b) less than 7 days before the course starting, the entire sum is forfeited.
Once the student has arrived in Italy and intends to shorten the period of stay by cancelling a course that has already started, the school will retain the global tuition fee for the period of study for which the certificate of enrolment was issued.

ACCOMMODATION FEES
The school provides accommodation for the duration of the courses as a free service to its students and exclusively at their request, acting as a non-profitable go-between: therefore it bears no responsibility whatsoever in regard of either the students or the landlords or both. Accommodation bookings are confirmed under the following conditions:
a) for stays up to 4 weeks or less the full amount of the accommodation fee must be received by the school within 15 days prior to the student's arrival.
b) for stays longer than 4 weeks the school must receive the equivalent of a 4 weeks accommodation fees within 15 days prior to the student's arrival. Subsequent payments must be made in cash in advance, month by month, for each following month or shorters periods.
Cancellation or change of accommodation
a) if accommodation is cancelled in writing within at least 15 days's notice before the course starts, a cancellation charge equivalent to one week accommodation fees will be made
b) if accommodation is cancelled in writing less than 15 days's notice before the course starts, a cancellation charge equivalent to two weeks accommodation fees will me made
c) after arrival or non show in the accommodation full charges must be paid.
You must give two weeks notice if you intend to leave or change your accommodation. Full charges must be paid for these two weeks's notice. If, for some exceptional reason, you wish to leave your accommodation immediately, two week's fees must be paid in lieu of notice.

MINIMUM AGE
16 years.

TRANSFER SERVICE
All information concerning airport of arrival, flight details and arrival time should be communicated to the school with the enrolment or at the latest 2 weeks before arrival date. With the confirmation the school will send all the relevant information concerning the airport transfer service.

LESSONS/TIMETABLE
Lessons are held from Monday to Friday and can take place either in the morning or in the afternoon. Each class hour (lesson) lasts 45 minutes.

ATTENDANCE
Students are expected to attend lessons regularly and on time. No refund is due in case of absence, late attendance or leaving before the course ends. Students attending courses of 36 or more weeks duration may take a holiday of maximum 2 weeks without losing their course fee for the period, provided at least a four week notice is given. All programmes allow for a two week break at Christmas.

PARTICIPANTS/OTHER
Every attempt will be made to place you on the course of your choice. However, Accademia di Italiano Milan cannot guarantee a particular course and timetable until you have taken an entry test and had an interview. In the event of insufficient applications for a course (a minimum of 4 students is required for each course), the school reserves the right to offer an alternative course of equal value.

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
Please note that no lessons take place on public holidays. Should your attendance be affected by closure of
the school due to an Italian public holiday, special arrangements regarding fees will be made.

RESPONSIBILITY
AI cannot be held responsible for the loss of personal belongings eventually suffered in its premises.

INSURANCE
It is strongly advised that the students insure themselves in their Country against personal risks and medical care costs. The insurance should cover risks of loss of deposits, fees and advance payments for whichever reason, including parture/arrival cancellations, absence from the course or course termination due to unforeseen circumstances.

PERSONAL DATA
The student authorizes the school Accademia di Italiano to use his/her personal data in accordance with the current Italian Law (n° 196/2003) which foresees also that this information will be kept in archival form. The student authorizes Accademia di Italiano also to send, periodically, information and promotional material about the school and the course offered. The student may request at any moment that all of this information is deleted.

The school reserves the right to adjust fees in the event of particular international monetary situations.
