Milan is a town with approximately 1.6 million inhabitants, not far from picturesque lakes, the sea of the Ligurean Riviera and the ski resorts of the Italian and Swiss Alps.
Its foundation dates back to before the Roman times.
Rich with important historical monuments and works of art like the imposing gothic Cathedral (the Duomo), the St. Ambrogio basilica, the St. Maria delle Grazie Renaissance church and cloister with Leonardo's Last Supper fresco, the Sforzesco Castle with Michelangelo's last sculpture (the unfinished Pietà Rondanini), this city hosts worldwide known cultural centres like the la Scala Opera House, the Brera Museum and Art Academy, the Piccolo Theatre, to name only a few.
Milan is today a very active and vital city, the capital of Italian fashion, design and business, with the most successful European fair organization, eleven universities, schools for opera singers, industrial and fashion designers.
Milan is the ideal place to learn the Italian language within an environment with plenty of cultural, social and business stimuli, typical of a region rightly considered to set trends later followed by the rest of the world.
